Spread love through the gift of home

February, you’re here! January felt ten times longer than normal, anyone else feel that way?!

This month is a special month, one that celebrates Black History and the incredible people filled with love and resilience that paved the way for so many. It also celebrates Valentines, with bustling floral shops, romantic candlelit dates, and overeating chocolate. It’s a month that lights up L O V E.

In thinking through this month, we thought we would shift the focus. On social media and through design platforms, it can often feel as though there is a lot of push to keep up with your own home, or to have the best, spend money, and so on. We wanted to shift the focus and make this month about spreading love through the home for others.

Here are some thoughtful ways that you can spread love through the gift of home this month //

  1. Take a Saturday this month & reach out to a single parent, widow, or new parents and offer to clean their home/bring breakfast/flowers over. These are people who would never ask for help, but are in a place more than ever of needing it. That simple morning of kindness, can love so deeply.

  2. If you know of someone who is living long term in a hospital, battling a disease, or has a baby in the NICU - create a “home box” full of goodies like a cozy blanket, a framed encouraging quote, a peaceful room spray, an inspiring beautiful book to look through. Home can be a feeling wherever you are, and hospital rooms certainly need that feeling of comfort!

  3. In your own home, create a place that welcomes intentionality and care to your family. Clear off that kitchen table, and set the table to have dinner all together [if it’s been a while] Place a bowl with folded up pieces of paper with thoughtful questions and take turns choosing and answering!

  4. Open up your own home & invite a group of women/family that you don’t know well [through church/yoga class/kids sport] and love on them through creating a fun place of community, a listening ear, and good food. Keep it simple and relaxed, create some delicious appetizers & ask intentional questions. Get to know people who are different from you and even outside of your comfort zone.

How can we spread love by using our homes and helping others to feel a sense of peace in their own homes this month?
