Darnell Cottage "Quaran-tour": Foyer
We are excited to give you a tour of our home, room by room! Since you are probably spending a bit more time in your home right now than usual, we hope this offers some inspiration and fun for your own projects!
First up, our foyer.
Our foyer is not super big, so we wanted to be sure to be intentional to create an inviting entry that still maximized the space.
To do this, we installed a new front door with windows to let light in! Lighting is key and a game changer, making a tight and dingy space feel open and airy.
To further open up the space, we knocked down a hallway to open our foyer to our living room - that way right when you open our front door you are invited into the rest of our home!
The first thing you see when you enter the foyer is an antique bench with a sconce and a piece of art. This brings warmth and creates a cosy ambiance. It is a great home for shoes. We leave a basket under the bench for our kids shoes when they come in!
We left the stone floors because we loved the character! We replaced the banister and gave it a fresh coat of paint, as well as ripped out that carpet and installed new hardwoods! To finish it off, we put in a new pendant above.
